October 16, 2020 — Hosted by Dr. Fredrick Douglass Dixon, the University of Wyoming's family-friendly event harkens to the intellectual salons of the Harlem Renaissance as well as the musical soirees of the 1920s. Readings of African American poetry, from the 1700s to contemporary, are accompanied by cultural and historical contextualizing of the poems. Musical performances by the Laramie High School Jazz Choir are threaded throughout the event.
