Celebrate the works of Black American authors with the University of Delaware community. The theme for the sixth annual African American Read-In at UD is “Lift Every Voice,” with an emphasis on African American poetry.
You can participate in this virtual celebration however you feel most comfortable: by listening to other readers, by reading the work of Black American poets, or by reading your own work.
Featured poets Randall Horton and Yolanda Wisher will give brief readings during the event.
To be placed on the list of scheduled readers in advance, please contact Professor Délice Williams at diwill@udel.edu or Librarian Aimee Gee at gee@udel.edu. You will also be able to sign up to read as the event is happening.
This virtual event is free and open to the public. It is co-sponsored by the Department of English and the Library, Museums and Press.
The African American Read-In is a nationwide event established by the National of Teachers of English. For more about the history of this event, visit NCTE.org.
