Join us as poet James Jones explores how poetry has helped knit together the African American community of Los Angeles during the most difficult times. Jones and collaborators will read and discuss poetry from the Watts Riots to the present, and then the audience will have the chance to write and share their own poetry about the present moment.
About James Jones:
James Evert Jones is a poet and writer based in Van Nuys, California, and is the curator and host of various programs, performances and workshops under the banner of Expressions L.A. James's work has been featured in the anthologies: Voices from Leimert Park Redux, Redshift, Onyx: Spoken Word and Sparring with Beatnik Ghosts, among others. James is a recipient of the 2019 President's Volunteer Service Award.
