The Flow-etry Academy will be a five-week training class for students ages 12-17 on types and styles of poetry. There will be five virtual 1.5-hour sessions beginning Tuesday, December 1, and continuing each Tuesday through December 29, 2020. Interactive Zoom sessions are scheduled for 5:00 pm through 6:30 pm each Tuesday in December (Tuesday, December 1, December 8, December 15, December 22, and December 29, 2020).
The online Zoom sessions will be hosted and coordinated by Richard Bowman, Jr., Ball State University graduate student in the Department of English, and fellow graduate assistants, Ciara Smith, Eric Sanders, and Joe Clemens. This program will assist participants with writing and communication skills, such as public speaking and introduce them to poetic concepts. The course will be marketed to teens; however, interested persons will not be turned away.
The course will conclude with an opportunity for participants to perform their work or favorite work on January 9, 2021, for a chance to receive a gift card. Performance categories are Elementary, Middle, and High School levels.
Enrollment participation for Flow-erty Academy will be sent to all schools in Muncie and Delaware County. School systems included are the Muncie Community Schools, Delaware Community Schools, Yorktown Community Schools, Daleville Community Schools, Cowan Community Schools, the Indiana Academy for Science Mathematics and Humanities, and Inspire Academy.
